Austin Wranglers News Release

AUSTIN, TX - The Austin Wranglers announced they have re-signed wide receiver/linebacker Fred Coleman and kicker Todd Sievers through the 2008 season.

Coleman (6-1, 190, Washington), entering his fourth AFL season, was a member of the SuperBowl XXXVI Champion New England Patriots in 2002 and ArenaBowl XVIII Champion San Jose SaberCats in 2004. Beginning the 2006 season with the SaberCats, he tallied 18 receptions for 161 yards and three touchdowns (one receiving, two rushing) in four games. Coleman joined the Wranglers for the last five weeks of the season, but was on injured reserve due to an ankle injury.

"Fred Coleman is an experienced veteran receiver and he brings a track record of winning to the Wranglers," said Wranglers General Manager Glyn Milburn. "He gives us versatility with his ability to play multiple positions along with providing the team with a great amount of leadership on and off the field."

His best AFL season came in 2005 with the Nashville Kats where he led the team in receptions (75), receiving yards (847) and all-purpose yards (1,262), playing as the offensive specialist. Originally drafted in the sixth round (160th overall) by the Buffalo Bills in 1998, he has spent time with the NFL's Buffalo Bills, New York Jets and New England Patriots.

Sievers (6-3, 215, Miami, (FL), originally signed with the Wranglers midway though the 2005 season. Playing in all 16 games for the Wranglers in 2006, he ranked fifth in the AFL in field goals making 14-of-25 with a long of 54 yards. Ranking seventh overall amongst kickers in scoring, Sievers was 90-of-105 on extra points. On the season, he kicked off 134 times with 32 touchbacks.

"Todd Sievers has been a consistent kicker for us and he has improved each year," said Milburn. "We are thrilled to have him back in Austin and feel he can develop into one of the AFL's elite kickers."
