Wranglers Foundation hammers for Habitat

AUSTIN - The Austin Wranglers Foundation will break ground on their second Austin Habitat for Humanity home as a special way to kick off the football team's fourth season. Building this home is one the many ways that the team in conjunction with the Foundation, gives back to the Austin community.
This year's blitz build is set to begin on Saturday, February 3 with the Austin Wranglers coaching staff and players on hand to raise the first walls of the home. Wranglers players and staff, Lady Wranglers and a number of community partners will join together to build the home in just one month.
"The Austin Wranglers formed a new partnership with Austin Habitat in 2005 when we built our first Habitat house with the Lopez family," said Doug MacGregor, Foundation and Team President. "Working with Austin Habitat has been such a positive experience for all of us as it exemplifies the team's commitment to the community. We anxiously anticipate working with the great volunteers and another terrific family for this year's build."
The Wrangler House will be located at 1205 Frontera Lane in the new Frontier at Montana subdivision in southeast Austin and is the future home of the Navarro family. To qualify for the home, the Navarro family will devote 400 hours of sweat equity to the Habitat program, as well as participate in 24 financial education classes/workshops. When completed, the HomeBuyers will purchase the house with a zero-interest home loan from Austin Habitat.
"The Wranglers were such great partners on their last Habitat project and are a true community asset," said Michael Willard, AHFH Executive Director. "The Wrangler House will be completed very quickly but the impact this team will make on the lives of the Navarro family will last generations."
