Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Boise, Ida. - Able to close a five-goal deficit, but unable to tally enough goals for the win, the Las Vegas Wranglers fell 6-3 to the Idaho Steelheads tonight in the first of a two-game road series.

Idaho took an early three-goal lead in the first, recording scores from forward Adrian Foster, forward Sam Carrick and forward Austin Smith in the first eight minutes of the game. With Wranglers goaltender Joe Fallon pulled in favor of goaltender Mitch O'Keefe afterward, Steelheads scoring was held at bay until midway through the second, when forward Jacob Cepis made it a 4-0 game. A second goal from Idaho's Smith ended the period with the Steelheads up 5-0 over the Wranglers.

Avoiding the shutout, Las Vegas put their first notch on the board 24 seconds into the third on a goal from right wing Sean Wiles. Wranglers center Chris Francis added another goal, and one from center Geoff Paukovich a minute later cut the Steelheads lead to 5-3. Idaho tacked on an insurance goal with five minutes left in the game, though, and the team took the first game of the series with a final score of 6-3.

The same two teams meet again tomorrow night in Boise, and the Wranglers return home to face the San Francisco Bulls on Thursday, Nov. 29. The Stanley Cup will make a trip to Orleans Arena for that game, and 1,000 free 2012 Western Conference Championship posters will be given out as well. Tonight's full box score can be found here .
