World Vision Night at the Park

Tacoma, WA - Every year thousands of children arrive for the first day of school without the basics they need to learn. At the Friday, August 21st game vs. the Omaha Royals, fans can make a difference as the Rainiers partner with World Vision to collect school supplies that will fill backpacks to go to underprivileged kids for the upcoming school year.

What: Fans are asked to bring school supplies to the game to drop off at the World Vision bins located at the entrance to Cheney Stadium. Supplies most commonly needed are:

- Spiral notebooks

- #2 pencils

- Pencil sharpeners

- Pens

- Pink eraser

- 24 count crayons

- Glue sticks

- Wide rule binder paper

- Scissors

- Binders

- Pencil cases

- Two Pocket folder

- Colored markers

When: Friday, August 21st 7:00 pm. Gates open at 6:00 pm.

Where: Cheney Stadium

Tickets: Tickets to Tacoma Rainiers games range from $6 to $20. For tickets to World Vision Night at the Park visit www.tacomarainiers.com or call the Rainiers box office at (253)-752-7700. Those who donate will receive a coupon for 10% off at the Rainiers Gift Store for that evening. Friday night's game will also have postgame fireworks.

In 2008 World Vision provided backpacks filled with school supplies to more than 5,800 children from families that struggle to make ends meet.
