Worcester Pro Hockey Announces Team Name and Crest Unveiling
April 3, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Worcester Railers HC News Release
WORCESTER, MA - Worcester Pro Hockey LLC announced its team name along with the unveiling of the official Worcester crest at its public event, Fan Fest 2016 on Sunday April 3, 2016 at the DCU Center.
The newly dubbed team, Worcester Railers HC, aims to be an ambassador of the city of Worcester and the Central Massachusetts region throughout the USA & Canada.
The name is reflective of the region's strong association with the railroad industry and heritage. From every Worcester neighborhood you can see, hear and feel the railroads. The historic and iconic Union Station is a landmark in the region and throughout the United States.
The colors were selected to show the railroad image and represent the values of those who worked and built the city and region.
The team crest was designed to make Worcester prominent in many ways, from the W on the train, as it powers onward though the Seven Hills (ok we made them a bit more dynamic than regular hills) that lend their name to the area, the "City of Seven Hills."
The HC (representing a "Hockey Club") in the name is unique in North American sports, playing off a European model used in hockey and most prominently in soccer (FC).
"We do not want you to be a fan, we want you to be part of the organization with us, as a HC Member. It will be part of all we do. It will become a social organization that is based around our hockey team," states Toby O'Brien, President of The Worcester Railers HC.
There will be monthly club events, a hockey pub with our name on it offering their members great specials and access to all 72 games, both at home and on the road. In addition the Hockey Club will have events such as HC Night with the Bravehearts Baseball Team and many other inclusive programs.
"It is a new way to look at sports, but we want everyone to be more than a fan, we want you to truly be a member and part of the success," O'Brien claims. "We aim to play with pride and bring that same pride to all our HC Members."
The Central Massachusetts Pro Hockey Team is inviting all of its fans to be part of history by reserving your spot as a Founding Member of the Hockey Club! The first 1,000 members to place a $50 deposit for season tickets will be included in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of the Founders Circle. Hockey Club members will enjoy special privileges, as well as share a deep rooted connection with the team.
