Woodchucks Add Pair of Arms to 2017 Roster

Wausau, WIS - Pitchers Clay Helvey and Scott Kobos from will be coming to Wausau to play for the Wisconsin Woodchucks this summer.

Helvey, a 6' 2" right-handed pitcher originally from Fort Mill, South Carolina comes to the Woodchucks from St. John's River State College where he has a 4.25 ERA with 37 strikeouts in 36 IP so far this season. As a freshman at the College of Charleston he accumulated a 3.72 era and 15 strikeouts in 19 innings. Helvey signed with the University of Tampa for next season.

Kobos, a 6' 2" outfielder and left-handed pitcher from Charlotte, North Carolina is off to an impressive start in 2017 with St. John's River State College. In six games, he has a 2.40 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 30 IP and a .410 batting average. He was named to the USA Mid-Atlantic Team in 2014.

The Wisconsin Woodchucks' home opener is Wednesday, May 31, 2017. All ticket packages and group tickets are now on sale for the upcoming 2017 season. The Woodchucks are also excited to be hosting the 2017 Northwoods League All-Star Game, presented by Ascension.
