Chicago Wolves News Release

SAN ANTONIO---The Chicago Wolves fell behind less than five minutes into the game and never recovered, despite a three-goal third period rally as they fell, 6-3, to the San Antonio Rampage at the AT&T Center Friday night.

Forwards Jamie Hunt (2G) and Darren Haydar (2A) each notched multiple-points, while right wing Spencer Machacek potted the other marker for Chicago.

Trailing 5-0 with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game, Chicago (0-1-0-0) rattled off three goals in a 1:56 span. Hunt kicked off the scoring while on the power-play at 10:47 of the final frame. Haydar held the puck in the far circle and found Hunt alone in the high slot whose shot went through the five-hole of Rampage goaltender Matt Climie.

Hunt pocketed his second power-play marker of the game just 32 seconds later when his one-timer from the blue line beat a screened Climie.

Machacek brought the Wolves within two when he took a pass from center Jared Ross and beat Climie stick side from the slot at 12:43 but the Rampage netminder shut the door the rest of the way.

Climie turned aside 26 shots in the victory for San Antonio (1-0-0-0).

The Rampage opened scoring 4:54 into the game when defenseman Garrett Stafford picked up a loose puck in the high slot and wristed a shot past Chicago goaltender Drew MacIntyre, top shelf.

San Antonio pushed its lead to 2-0 when right wing Matt Beaudoin held the puck in the far circle and sent a pass through the crease, which deflected off the stick of MacIntyre and trickled over the goal line.

The Rampage extended their lead to three at 19:48 of the middle frame. While on the power-play, right wing Viktor Tikhonov fired a shot from the near circle which was stopped by MacIntyre but the rebound squirted out to the slot where Mikkel Boedker flipped a shot top shelf.

Beaudoin scored his second tally of the night on a wrap around at 2:06 of the third period to inch the Rampage ahead, 4-0.

Defenseman Chris Summers made the lead five when he collected a rebound at the side of the crease and deposited the puck into the empty net at 4:34 of the final frame. Left wing Ryan Hollweg would close scoring for the Rampage when he roofed a shot over MacIntyre at 17:57.

MacIntyre (0-1-0) posted 25 saves in the loss.

The Wolves travel to Oklahoma City for a meeting with the expansion Barons at the Cox Center on Sunday at 3 p.m.
