Wolves Sticking It to Breast Cancer with New Events

Chicago Wolves News Release
GLENVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Wolves' commitment to A Silver Lining Foundation and Chicago Wolves Charities has inspired the American Hockey League franchise to discover new ways to raise money during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
As a highlight of Breast Cancer Awareness Night, when the Rockford IceHogs visit the Wolves for a 7 p.m. game on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Allstate Arena, the team is selling Survivor Sticks that give Wolves fans the chance to recognize and celebrate the breast cancer survivors in their lives.
For a donation of $175, which covers the cost of a mammogram for someone who cannot afford it, a fan receives a Survivor Stick and gets to choose the Wolves player who will use it during the game on Oct. 29. The fan also gets to choose the survivor's name that the Wolves player inscribes on the stick. After the game, the purchaser receives the Survivor Stick and gets to take a professional portrait with the player. Only a handful of sticks remain available and must be purchased by Oct. 28.
"It's about the survivor being honored," said Wolves senior vice president of operations Courtney Mahoney. "There even have been a couple fans who are cancer survivors and are putting their own name on the stick. This has been a really special process and it has been neat to hear their success stories. The support has been really tremendous."
To lend its support to the cause, the Wolves created the Stick It To Breast Cancer fundraiser that takes place on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Peggy Kinnane's Irish Restaurant and Pub in Arlington Heights. For a $30 donation, fans get to enjoy an evening of heavy appetizers and drinks with the Wolf Pack and a group of players that includes goaltender Jordan Binnington, defensemen Brad Hunt and Scooter Vaughan and forwards Kenny Agostino and Jordan Caron.
Vaughan, who's almost as serious about playing guitar as he is about playing hockey, will perform an acoustic set during the course of the evening.
"We're always looking to do different things," Mahoney said. "It's a unique opportunity for the fans and Peggy Kinnane's is such a great venue for this."
The Wolves have retained one traditional aspect of their Breast Cancer Awareness fundraising. Exclusive T-shirts and autographed pucks are available throughout October during home games and also by calling 1-800-THE-WOLVES. Proceeds from all of these events benefit A Silver Lining Foundation and Chicago Wolves Charities. For more information, visit ChicagoWolves.com.
