The Chicago Wolves announced Wednesday that they have signed forwards SHANE HARPER and TERRY BROADHURST and defensemen MATHIEU BRODEUR and COLTEN HAYES to contracts for the 2014-15 season.
HARPER suited up for 63 games in his first year with the Wolves in 2013-14, finishing the campaign fourth on the team in goals (13) and plus/minus rating (+19) and fifth in points (33), all career highs. Skating in his first American Hockey League postseason, the right wing potted five points (2G, 3A) in nine playoff games, including two assists in his first tilt.
The 25-year-old turned pro at the end of the 2009-10 season, appearing in five games for Adirondack following a five-year career with the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League. He has amassed 33 goals, 74 points, and 92 penalty minutes in 206 career AHL games with Adirondack and Chicago.
The Valencia, Calif., native has also appeared in 63 ECHL games with Greenville and Trenton, accruing 72 points (36G, 36A).
BROADHURST is coming off a career year with the Rockford IceHogs in which he posted 44 points (16G, 28A) in 73 games with a +10 plus/minus rating and 16 penalty minutes. His numbers placed him fourth on the team in both assists and points, and he sat fifth in goals and plus/minus rating.
The 25-year-old Chicago Fury alum has collected 59 points (21G, 38A) in 112 career AHL games, all with Rockford, and 31 points (12G, 19A) in 36 games with Toledo in the ECHL. The Orland Park, Ill., native turned pro in 2012 following a three-year career at the University of Nebraska Omaha where he accrued 90 points (40G, 50A) in 110 games and served as captain his final season.
BRODEUR joins the Wolves after spending the past three seasons with the Portland Pirates, including a 12-point campaign (3G, 9A) with 49 penalty minutes in 62 games during 2013-14. It was the 24-year-old's fourth full professional season since making his AHL debut at the end of the 2009-10 season.
The Saint-Eustache, Quebec, native has accrued 38 points (8G, 30A) and 127 penalty minutes in 176 AHL games with Portland and San Antonio. The blueliner also appeared in 52 ECHL games with Las Vegas in 2010-11, posting one assist.
HAYES, who participated in Wolves training camp last season, comes to the team after spending 2013-14 with their CHL affiliate, the Missouri Mavericks. The rear-guard potted five goals and 21 points, along with 100 penalty minutes and a team-leading +31 plus/minus rating, in 57 regular-season games. He added two points (G, A) in six playoff contests.
The 24-year-old broke into the pro ranks during the 2011-12 season and has since collected 31 points (5G, 26A) and 202 penalty minutes in the ECHL with Stockton, Reading, and Fort Wayne. In the CHL, the Maple Ridge, B.C., native has posted 30 points (6G, 24A) and 129 penalty minutes in 75 games, all with Missouri.
