Chicago Wolves News Release

ROSEMONT, Ill.---The Chicago Wolves used goals from three different skaters and a 31-save performance from goaltender Peter Mannino to glide to a 3-1 win over the Peoria Rivermen at the Allstate Arena Sunday night.

Chicago (24-16-0-2) now heads into the All-Star break on a season-high six-game winning streak, and has risen to fourth place in the West Division with 50 points. The club has defeated Peoria in all five head-to-head matchups this season.

Mannino (11-3-0) allowed just one goal in his third straight win, marking the 13th time in 16 appearances this season he has held opponents to two or fewer goals.

"We were out of gas today, but we got lucky that we'd had a little more rest than they did," said Wolves Head Coach Don Lever. "Our work ethic has been unreal down this stretch, and I'm very pleased with the way we've been competing. We're going into this break feeling good about ourselves."

The Wolves drew first blood, 3:40 into the first period when Matt Anderson collected a rebound from a Brain Siptoz shot and slipped it between Rivermen netminder Ben Bishop's pads and into the net.

Chicago increased its lead, 2-0, with a tally from Tim Stapleton 19 seconds into the second period. The right wing took a pass from Joey Crabb in the left face-off circle and sent a shot singing past Bishop.

Right wing Adam Cracknell got Peoria (22-16-1-3) on the board, beating a screened Mannino at 6:12 of the middle frame.

Center Kevin Doell drove into the zone alone and cranked a shot past Bishop at the 9:11 mark of the second period to regain Chicago's two-goal lead, 3-1.

Bishop (13-8-2) turned aside 18 shots for Peoria.

The Wolves return from the All-Star break next Friday, Jan. 22, for an Amtrak Rivalry matchup with the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center at 7 p.m.
