April 5, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hartford Wolf Pack News Release
HARTFORD: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Chris Drury announced today that the team has signed defenseman Tyson Helgesen to an Amateur Tryout (ATO) agreement.
Helgesen, 20, comes to the Wolf Pack from the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League, where he played the past four seasons. The 6-3, 201-pound Fairview, Alberta native skated in 72 games with the Chiefs this year, scoring six goals and adding 23 assists for 29 points, while serving 102 minutes in penalties. Helgesen's 23 assists were third-best among Spokane defensemen, and he led Chief blueliners, and finished third overall on the team, in PIM. He was also a +19 on the season, good for second among team defensemen and fourth among all team skaters.
In the postseason, Helgeson notched 1-5-6 in Spokane's seven games. Those numbers placed him first among Chief defensemen, and second overall on the team, in assists, and second among defensemen, and tied for fourth on the team, in points.
In 263 career WHL games with Spokane, Helgesen amassed 18 goals and 83 assists for 101 points, plus 275 penalty minutes.
