Dakota Wizards News Release

Bismarck, N.D. (October 12, 2011) - The Dakota Wizards received the 12th pick in the 2011 NBA Development League Draft through a lottery conducted yesterday at the annual coaches meeting in Denver. The Draft will be held via teleconference on Thursday, Nov. 3 at the Leagues' headquarters in New York.

The Los Angeles D-Fenders will have the first overall pick followed by the Austin Toros, Maine Red Claws, Sioux Falls Skyforce, Texas Legends, Bakersfield Jam (from Iowa), Erie Bayhawks, Bakersfield Jam, Erie Bayhawks (from Idaho), Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Tulsa 66ers, Dakota Wizards, Bakersfield Jam (from Reno), Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Canton expansion franchise and Tulsa 66ers (from Springfield).

The NBA D-League Draft utilizes a "serpentine" format, meaning the order will alternate in each of the eight rounds. For example, the team picking last in the first round will select first in the second round, giving them the 16th and 17th overall choices.

In addition to the 12th overall pick, Dakota will select 44th , 47th , 53rd , 76th , 85th , 108th and 117th overall in the 128-player draft. Dakota traded their second-round draft pick last season in a three team trade in exchange for Walter Sharpe.

Season tickets and 5-ticket flex packs for the 2011-12 season are on sale. Single game tickets will go on sale in early November. The home opener is set for Friday, Nov. 25 against the Los Angeles D-Fenders. For more information contact the Dakota Wizards at (701) 258-2255.
