Winterhawks Come Back to Earn Point, Fall 4-3 in Shootout

The Portland Winterhawks (22-20-1-2) fell in a shootout to the Kamloops Blazers (28-16-1-2) Friday at the Sandman Centre in Kamloops, British Columbia.
Keoni Texeira got the scoring started for the Hawks with his 9th goal of the season. Texeira, in his fourth season with the Hawks, leads Winterhawks defensemen in goal-scoring this season. Meanwhile, Cody Glass, who missed Wednesday's game due to illness, provided assists on both goals in the second period to hit 59 points on the season.
The Hawks are back in action Saturday when they finish their four-game trip through the B.C. Division with a game against the Kelowna Rockets. The Hawks then return home for a visit from the Kamloops Blazers Tuesday in the Moda Center, a rescheduled game from their postponement on January 8.

- 1st per. @ 1:21 - Kamloops' Garrett Pilon (Zazula, Valentine) flipped a rebound past Winterhawks goaltender Cole Kehler. (POR 0 - KAM 1)
- 1st per. @ 10:31 - Nick Holowko (Valentine) forced his third goal of the season in on a rebound for the Blazers. (POR 0 - KAM 2)
- 2nd per. @ 6:48 - Keoni Texeira (McKenzie, Glass) jumps on a rebound in the Kamloops zone and fires it past Connor Ingram of the Blazers. (POR 1 - KAM 2)
- 2nd per. @ 8:22 - (PP) Joachim Blichfeld (Glass, Overhardt) hammered a one-timer into the short-side to tie the game up at 2. (POR 2 - KAM 2)
- 2nd per. @ 8:42 - The Blazers took the lead back 20 seconds later when Rudolfs Balcers (Pilon, Chyzowski) backhanded one in. (POR 2 - KAM 3)
- 3rd per. @ 3:11 - The Hawks came back to tie the game early in the third, when Colton Veloso (Unassisted) wristed one top-shelf on a 2-on-1 rush. (POR 3 - KAM 3)
- The two teams went through the overtime scoreless, and in the shootout the only goal came from Kamloops' Lane Bauer in the fourth round earn Kamloops the extra point.
