Winnipeg's Dayna Spiring Becomes First Female Representative

WINNIPEG, MB., February 23, 2016 - The Winnipeg Football Club today announces that Dayna Spiring has officially become the team's first-ever woman to sit on the Canadian Football League's Board of Governors while attending their annual league meetings this week in Arizona.
The CFL Board of Governors represents each of the nine teams across the league and is comprised of three individuals from each team in the CFL. The Winnipeg Football Club is represented by Blue Bombers Board Chair and Lead Governor Jeff Martin, along with Dayna Spiring and Club President & CEO Wade Miller.
Spiring became Vice Chair of the Blue Bombers Board of Directors in January 2016 after previously holding the position of Corporate Secretary when she was elected by the public nomination process in January 2015.
She is only the second woman to join the CFL's Board of Governors and the first since Jo-Anne Polak of the Ottawa Rough Riders served as an Alternate Governor from 1989-1991. Spiring is currently the President & CEO of Economic Development Winnipeg.
"It's another exciting opportunity for me and I look forward to sitting down with the other governors as we embark on another exciting CFL season," said Spiring. "I'm passionate about this game, the league, and its fans and am eager to get going."
"Dayna will be an excellent contributor to the CFL's Board of Governors," said Martin. "She is an integral part of the Blue Bomber board, and combined with her extensive experience with a variety of boards, this will make her an immediate asset to the CFL."
