Winnipeg Jets Gameday and Santa Claus Parade
November 15, 2017 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manitoba Moose News Release
November 18 is an exciting day in downtown Winnipeg with two great back-to-back fun family events, starting with the 2:00 p.m. Winnipeg Jets vs. New Jersey Devils game, followed immediately by the annual Winnipeg Santa Claus Parade, which starts at 5:00 p.m. at Portage Ave. and Young St. Tickets to the game can be purchased at www.winnipegjets.com/tickets.
We encourage you to bring warm clothes and make it a double header by taking in the fun of the parade after the Jets game. For everything you need to know about the parade, visit winnipegsantaparade.com.
Please note the following important details that will help to make your travel to and from the game as easy as possible on parade day:
Road Closures
Portage Ave. will be closed at 2:00 p.m.
Portage cross streets from Main St. to Young St. will be closed at 2:00 p.m. (Fort St, Garry St., Smith St., Donald St., Hargrave St., Carlton St., Edmonton St., Kennedy St., Vaughan St., Memorial Blvd. etc.)
Main St. will be closed at 2:30 p.m. between Portage Ave. and William Stephenson Way
The earlier you arrive to the game, the smoother your travels will be. If arriving late to the game, please note that you will no longer be able to cross Portage between Main St. and Young St.; please plan ahead to determine an alternate route.
At the end of the Jets game, Portage Ave. will be closed to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Fans exiting Bell MTS Place after the game will only be able to cross Portage via the skywalk into Portage Place; please keep this in mind if you regularly park north of Portage Ave.
2017 Santa Claus Parade route
Parking
Consider parking on the side of Portage Ave. (north or south) that will be most convenient for you to get onto your desired route out of downtown; if you will be heading south, southwest or southeast after the game or parade, it may be best to park south of Portage Ave.; if you will be heading north, northwest or northeast, it may be best to park north of Portage Ave.
Please be prepared to park and walk a little farther than you would normally.
Please direct any questions regarding parking lot access to the parking lot operators.
Accessibility Drop off and Pickup
Patrons needing to use the Accessibility Drop off Area on Donald may do so until 2:30 p.m., at which time access to Donald will close.
As the streets surrounding Bell MTS Place will all be closed at the end of the game, we suggest that patrons use the skywalk to access City Place and exit onto St. Mary Avenue between Donald and Hargrave for accessibility pick up.
Tips
The earlier you arrive to the game, the smoother your travels will be. If you are arriving after 2:00 p.m. you will encounter road closures at Portage Ave. and cross streets.
Consider downloading the waze traffic app which provides real-time information on road closures and may be helpful in navigating your route to and from downtown.
Consider taking transit to and from the game/parade - please visit the transit website for information on route and schedule information.
