Winnipeg Blue Bombers Re-Sign Receiver Darvin Adams

WINNIPEG, MB. - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has re-signed receiver Darvin Adams. A pending free agent, the agreement means Adams will remain in Winnipeg through the 2019 season.

Adams (6-2, 200, Auburn, January 5, 1990 in Canton, MS) has spent the past two seasons with Winnipeg after signing as a free agent. Adams was on pace for a career-year in 2016 before suffering an injury in week 6 at Edmonton. He finished the year with 51 receptions for 690 yards and six touchdowns in just eight games. In four of his eight games played, Adams recorded over 100 yards receiving.

"Darvin has continued to develop over the past two seasons, and in our view, is now one of the league's top-end targets," said Blue Bombers General Manager Kyle Walters. "He was having a great season last year before unfortunately suffering a tough injury, but we look forward to watching him build off of his season in 2017 and beyond."

"This was something I wanted to get completed, and not head into free agency," said Adams. "This is such a great organization, and for them to want me back, with the direction the team is going, that means a lot to me. I couldn't be happier to be remain a Bomber."

Adams recorded 61 receptions for 839 yards and a team-high six touchdowns grabs in 2015, his first season with Winnipeg. In four CFL seasons, his first two with Toronto, Adams has 133 receptions for 1,790 yards and 14 touchdowns in 35 career games.

IN 2016 (WPG): CFL CAREER - 2013 TO 2017: Started in just 8 of 18 games in 2016 during his second year with the Blue Bombers. Led the club with an average of 86.3 receiving yards per game and ranked #3 overall with 690 in total. Missed Weeks #7 through #16 on the Injured List but returned to play the final two games along with the West Semi-Final at BC. Recorded four 100+ yard games in just eight starts. On a per game basis, Adams ranked #6 in the entire CFL in receiving and scored 6 TDs on a total of 51 targets. Of his 51 receptions, 14 went for clutch second down conversions in 2016.

DIV-CFL ALL-STAR / AWARDS: NONE Will be entering his fifth CFL season and third with the Blue Bombers after signing as a free agent in February 2015 from Toronto.
