SOTO BECOMES 59TH DRAGONS PLAYER IN THE MAJOR LEAGUES

Neftali Soto, a member of the 2008 Dayton Dragons, recently became the 59th former Dragons player to reach the Major Leagues. Soto made his big league debut with the Reds on Saturday at Philadelphia as a late-inning defensive replacement. On Sunday, Soto appeared as a pinch hitter for the Reds, grounding out to third base in his first Major League at-bat.

Soto was a key element in the 2008 Dragons push to the semi-final round of the Midwest League playoffs. He appeared in 52 games for the Dragons that season, batting .326 with seven home runs and 36 RBI. Soto, along with shortstop Zack Cozart, catcher Devin Mesoraco, and starting pitchers Jeremy Horst and Enerio Del Rosario, led the Dragons to the playoffs and a first round sweep before the club lost to South Bend in the semi-finals. Todd Frazier was a member of that Dragons club during the first half of the season.

Soto became the second former Dragon to reach the Major Leagues this season, joining Donald Lutz.
