Wichita Wingnuts News Release

WICHITA, Kans. - The Wichita Wingnuts signed two more capable arms on Thursday, inking right-handers Danny Moskovits and Colby Suggs for 2017.

The 26-year old Moskovits will be entering his fourth professional season, with a year of experience in the American Association already under his belt. The Glendale, Calif., native spent part of 2016 with the Laredo Lemurs, going 2-4 with a 6.51 ERA in 13 games, eight of which were starts. Moskovits had three outings against the Wingnuts while with the Lemurs, earning a loss and two no-decisions. The righty was released by Laredo in mid-July, and finished the year with the Sussex County Miners of the Can-Am League, notching a 1-4 record and 5.98 ERA in eight starts.

A graduate of Harvard University, Moskovits started his professional career in the Can-Am, latching on with the Québec Capitales in 2014. There he posted his best season, finishing 2-2 with a 3.03 ERA in 29.2 innings, covering eight appearances. Moskovits moved on to the New Jersey Jackals the following year, splitting time as a starter and a reliever and logging a 4.55 ERA.

Suggs comes to Wichita following four seasons in the Miami Marlins organization. The Sulphur Springs, Texas, native was a standout reliever at the University of Arkansas, never finishing with an ERA higher than 1.74 and piling up 13 saves as a senior. Those results, combined with a fastball that regularly touched the mid-90s, made Suggs the 73rd overall selection of the 2013 MLB Draft.

The right-hander made three stops in 2013, beginning at the Marlins rookie-level affiliate in the Gulf Coast League and climbing as high as High-A Jupiter. Suggs remained at Jupiter for all of 2014, going 1-6 with a 5.09 ERA in 46 appearances, all out of the bullpen. In 2015, the 25-year old was off to his best start as a professional, tossing five scoreless outings for Class A Greensboro before Tommy John surgery ended his season. Suggs came back to pitch in six games for the Gulf Coast League Marlins in 2016, before being released in July.

Moskovits and Suggs put the Wingnuts at the maximum allotment of 28 players for spring training, which opens on Saturday, May 6.
