Win Streak Snapped at 12 Games with Loss

Trenton Thunder News Release

HARTFORD, CT - The Trenton Thunder fell 2-1 Friday night to the Hartford Yard Goats, and in doing so fell one game shy of matching the franchise record of a 13-game win streak.

It was a comeback effort for the Yard Goats as your Thunder struck late in the game for the game's first run. Jack Wynkoop tossed six scoreless innings on just 57 pitches before coming out for the top of the 7th. The first man he faced was Billy Fleming who launched a solo homer to left-centerfield to put Trenton on the board. Fleming has appeared in seven games with the Thunder since returning from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and now has 3 home runs after homering just four times over his first 49 games of the season with your Thunder.

That would be all the offense Trenton would muster in the ballgame off Wynkoop, D.J. Johnson and Shane Broyles who surrendered just five hits in Hartford's win. The strong pitching performances allowed the 'Goats to rally with single runs in the 7th and 8th innings for the 2-1 win.

Zack Littell got the start for your Thunder and went 7 innings while allowing just one earned run. He struck out seven over those seven innings, and after 5 Double-A starts his ERA sits at 1.59 with a 4-0 record despite the no-decision Friday night.

Trenton entered with a 12-game win streak and had not lost since June 28th against Richmond and was looking to match the franchise record of 13 straight wins set April 15-30, 1996
