August 20, 2009 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Frederick Keys News Release

For the second time in this series, the Frederick Keys came from five runs down to tie the Wilmington Blue Rocks late in the ball game. Unfortanately for the Keys, just like the first time Wilmington took the lead back late in the game and held on, as the Blue Rocks defeated Frederick 6-5.

The Keys trailed 5-0 headed into the sixth inning. Wilmington LHP Danny Duffy had tossed five no-hit innings. He exited in favor of RHP Zach Peterson. Frederick would begin to battle back. With two on and one out, 1B Robbie Widlansky hit an RBI-single to put the Keys on the scoreboard. Then C Caleb Joseph grounded out to second, knocking in a second run, and pulling the Keys to within three.

Frederick tied the ball game in the seventh. With two on and no outs, RF David Cash laid down a bunt. The ball rolled under 2B Johnny Giavotella's mit and into right field. 2B Ryan Adams scored from second, pulling Frederick to within two. The next batter, CF Matt Angle, hit a ground ball to second. Giavotella booted it. DH Matt Tucker scored from third. 3B Brandon Waring then knocked in Angle with an RBI-single, tying the ball game up.

RHP Brett Jacobson made his Baltimore Orioles organizational debut in the eighth. He just joined the club after the O's traded 1B Aubrey Huff to the Detroit Tigers. Jacobson walked the first batter he faced in C Ryan Eigsti. The backstop then reached second on a sacrafice. He got to third on a ground out to second. Eigsti eventually scored on a wild pitch, putting Wilmington on top 6-5.

RHP Louis Coleman (2-0) pitched 0.2 of an inning of relief to pick up the win. Jacobson (0-1) took the loss after allowing just the one run in two solid innings of work. LHP Brandon Sisk recorded the final six outs to pick up his 16th save.

The Keys hit the road for seven games. First on the agenda is a three-game set with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 7:05 PM. The Keys return to Frederick for the final six games of their home schedule on Friday, August 28th. For ticket info, contact our box office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS.
