Iowa Cubs News Release

Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Cubs placed RHP Ryan Williams on the disabled list today and recalled INF David Bote from Advanced-A Myrtle Beach to fill the open roster spot.

Williams had a gem going through 5.0 innings in last night's contest against Tacoma, allowing just one earned run off six hits. He took the mound for the sixth and threw four pitches before exiting the game with an apparent injury. Details are yet to be determined, but the injury is not expected to be serious. Williams is 4-1 on the season for Iowa and boasts a 3.30 ERA, the best of any I-Cubs' starter. Over his last seven starts, he is 4-0 with a 2.21 ERA.

Bote, 23, joins Iowa for the second time in his career. The utility man appeared in four games for the I-Cubs in 2014 and went 4-for-10 with one home run and three RBI. For Myrtle Beach this season, Bote is holding a .238 average with a .304 on-base percentage. He was an 18th round draft pick by the Cubs in 2012 out of Neosho County Community College in Chanute, Kansas.

Iowa plays Tacoma tonight in Washington at 9:05 p.m. CT. Tune in to AM 940 or www.iowacubs.com to catch the action.
