Wildcats Sign Offensive Coordinator

ALBANY, GA- The South Georgia Wildcats officially announced the signing of Rickey Foggie as their Offensive Coordinator today. Foggie worked alongside Wildcats Head Coach Derek Stingley last season as the Macon Knights Offensive Coordinator, where he was selected the af2 Assistant Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.
Foggie came to the Knights mid-way through their 2006 season. He was able to successfully turn around a 2-6 team, finishing the last 8 games of the season at 6-2. Prior to working with the Macon Knights, Foggie was the Head Coach of the af2's Everett Hawks, and before that the Offensive Coordinator for the Amarillo Dusters. With the Dusters, he led the league in scoring offense with an average of 55.8 points per game.
As a quarterback, Foggie was successful in both the CFL and AFL. He played in the CFL with the B.C. Lions, where he went to the Grey Cup Championship Game, and the Toronto Argonauts, where he was a member of the league's highest scoring team. He then played in the AFL for 10 years with various teams.
"I'm glad to have Coach Foggie on board," says Derek Stingley. "He's one of the best as an offensive coordinator in this league. It's like having another Head Coach on staff."
The tandem of Derek Stingley and Rickey Foggie promises to bring success to South Georgia. Wildcats G.M. Darren McPhail says that this is "obviously a very exciting addition to our coaching staff. The ability to combine such an offensive-minded coach with head coach Derek Stingley creates one of the best coaching staffs in the league." With their combined experience, player connections, and strong recruiting, the Wildcats will be a team to reckon with in 2007.
