Wildcats Fall to Saint John at Home

MONCTON N.B. - The Moncton Wildcats were back on home ice tonight for the first time since the Christmas break as they hosted division rivals, the Saint John Sea Dogs. Matt Waite was back in nets tonight returning from injury facing 41 shots on goal.
Moncton was on the board first with a power play goal by Liam Murphy, his 9th of the season with assists going to Jeremy McKenna and Adam Capannelli. The Cats closed out the first period still holding a 1-0 lead. Then, early in the second Simon Le Coultre found the back of the net to put the Cats up by two. However, Saint John would respond late in the period with two goals by Bokondji Imama to tie things at 2-2.
In the third, Moncton was unable to get the momentum back and Saint John would go onto score five unanswered goals. Joe Veleno, Ian Smallwood, Bokondji Imama, Kyle Ward and Cole Reginato all added third period goals for the visitors.
Casey Fox and Brodie MacArthur will be called up from the Summerside Western Capitals for tomorrow's game.
The Wildcats are back in action tomorrow vs. the Charlottetown Islanders at 2:00 p.m. Come celebrate New Year's with the Wildcats, the family fun zone will open at noon with bouncy castles, face painters and more! Your game ticket will get you free entrance. It is also our annual Teddy Bear Toss game! Medavie Blue Cross will be at the game selling bears, all proceeds will go to the Atlantic Wellness Community Center.
