October 7, 2016 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Moncton Wildcats News Release
Bouchard had a solid performance in nets tonight for the Wildcats turning away 21 shots for the win! Moncton was on the board early with a power play goal by Lane Cormier at 14:49 of the opening frame, with assists going to Askew and Le Coultre. Then, less than a minute later Moncton would extend their lead by another goal courtesy of Manuel Wiederer, with Cam Askew racking up another assist. The Cats would close out the opening frame with a 2-0 lead, looking to carry that momentum over to start the second.
Midway through the second period Gatineau would cut Moncton's lead in half on a goal by former Wildcat Zack MacEwen; however, Cam Askew would respond late in the period to give the Wildcats another two goal lead. With both teams in and out of the box in the third, MacEwen would find the back of the net again at 7:40 of the final frame, but it would not be enough for the visitors tonight. Cam Askew's second period goal would end up counting as the game winner!
First star tonight went to Cam Askew, second to Zack MacEwen, and the third star went to Kody Gagnon who recorded his first point in a Wildcat jersey tonight with an assits on Askew's game winning goal!
The Wildcats are back in action tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m. as they host the Rimouski Océanic. For tickets call 857-4100 or get yours online at www.tickets.moncton.ca
