Moncton Wildcats News Release
MONCTON N.B. - The Moncton Wildcats took to the road this afternoon as they visited the Halifax Mooseheads for an afternoon game on this holiday Monday in Halifax.
Although the score did not come out in favour of the Wildcats, they put on a great performance in the 2-1 loss, especially goaltender Matt Waite. With 41 saves, Waite was named first star this afternoon after putting on an incredible performance in nets, keeping the team in it until the very end.
It was Halifax who was on the board first with a goal by Benoit-Olivier Groulx. This was the only goal recorded until the third period. Moncton tied things up midway through the final frame thanks to Anthony Wojcik, with his fourth of the year. With time winding down it looked as though this game was headed to overtime, but with less than a minute remaining, Maxime Fortier found the back of the net to give Halifax the win.
The Wildcats take on the Mooseheads again on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. on home ice at the Coliseum. Get your tickets now at 857-4100 or online at www.tickets.moncton.ca
