Moncton Wildcats News Release

MONCTON N.B. - The Moncton Wildcats have traded a 12th round pick in 2019 to the Shawinigan Cataractes in exchange for the rights to defenceman James Orr.

Born in Beaconsfield QC, James was drafted by the Cataractes in 2015, but has yet to report to the QMJHL in order to maintain his NCAA eligibility. This season he spent the first half playing with the Prince George Spruce Kings, but is now in the Central Canadian Hockey League with the Cornwall Colts, recording 7 points in 18 games. Prior to the CCHL he played two seasons with the Lac St-Louis Lions in the QMAAA league.

The 6'2' blueliner weighs 185 lbs and is a left-handed shot defenceman, with good size and skating ability. "James was a high prospect in midget who chose the NCAA route" said Director of Hockey Operations, Roger Shannon. "He was part of the Championship Lac St-Louis Lions team who competed for a National Midget Championship in Saint John two years ago. We added him to our list with that possibility that someday he could play with us in the QMJHL."
