November 15, 2013 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) - Wichita B-52s
Wichita, Kansas - November 15, 2013 - Tomorrow, the Wichita B-52s take flight to sin city to face the undefeated Legends. Our crew is heading into this match with thrusters on full after their dramatic home opener victory last weekend against the Piasa. On a night that highlighted youth soccer, a crowd of 1,943 supported the B-52s all the way until the final buzzer to seal the club's first-ever win by a scoreline of 9-8. The B-52s' current record in the PASL is 1 and 1.
In their inaugural season last year, the Legends were crowned champions of the Southwest Division, with a 13 and 3 record. They had their eye on the Ron Newman Cup, but were knocked out in the semi-finals by the San Diego Sockers, who went on to win it all. The Legends are 3 and 0 in their second PASL season having defeated Bay Area Rosal, Sacramento Surge, and the Toros Mexico, all of the Pacific Division. The B-52s are hoping to see a return of veteran Defender Chris Lemons from injury to halt the league's current leading goal-scorer Enrique Tovar.
Next Saturday, November 23rd, the B-52s will be back at Hartman Arena to face Hidalgo La Fiera at 7:05pm. La Fiera were the Central Division's runner-up last year and Ron Newman Cup semi-finalists, but were eliminated by Detroit. Currently, La Fiera boasts the same 1 and 1 record as Wichita. But the visitors will have two matches before ours, one of which is against Tulsa the night before coming to Wichita in a double-header weekend. They opened their season to a record crowd of over 9,600 in Monterrey, Mexico and narrowly lost in overtime. They bounced right back in their home opener and beat the Texas Strikers 13-1. The B-52s will be promoting Breast Cancer Awareness on the 23rd . More details of this will be available soon.
