June 14, 2017 - Western Hockey League (WHL) - Kelowna Rockets
The Western Hockey League announced today its pre-season schedule in advance of the 2017-18 season which includes four Kelowna Rockets games. The full schedule includes 62 games, beginning Tuesday, August 29, and concluding Saturday, September 16.
The Rockets are set to face the Victoria Royals at home in Prospera Place on September 2nd at 7:05pm. The Rockets will then face the Kamloops Blazers at home on September 5th at 7:05pm and again on the 8th at 7:05pm before heading to Kamloops to close out the pre-season on the 9th of September at the Sandman Centre with puck drop at 7:00pm.
The WHL pre-season schedule also features five tournaments, including events hosted by the Everett Silvertips, Red Deer Rebels, Regina Pats, Tri-City Americans and Vancouver Giants.
The Regina Pats pre-season tournament is set for August 31 through September 2 as the 2017 WHL Regular Season Champion Pats welcome the Moose Jaw Warriors, Saskatoon Blades and Swift Current Broncos to the Brandt Centre.
The Everett Silvertips pre-season tournament runs from September 1 through September 3 at the XFINITY Arena and features the host Silvertips, 2017 WHL Champion Seattle Thunderbirds, Portland Winterhawks, Spokane Chiefs, Tri-City Americans and Vancouver Giants.
The Red Deer Rebels pre-season tournament is scheduled for September 1 and September 2 at the Enmax Centrium as the Calgary Hitmen, Edmonton Oil Kings and Prince George Cougars converge on Red Deer.
From September 7 through September 9, the Tri-City Americans host the Kootenay ICE, Portland Winterhawks, Red Deer Rebels, Seattle Thunderbirds and Spokane Chiefs for pre-season tournament play at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, Wash.
Rounding out the pre-season tournament schedule, the Vancouver Giants host the Everett Silvertips, Prince George Cougars and Victoria Royals at the Langley Events Centre from September 8 through September 10.
The 2017 WHL pre-season schedule features four games in three communities outside WHL Club markets, providing an opportunity for hockey fans in other areas of Western Canada to watch exciting WHL action.
In Alberta, WHL pre-season games will be held in Crowsnest Pass and Taber. In Saskatchewan, Warman will host pre-season action between the Saskatoon Blades and Prince Albert Raiders on September 9.
