Whitecaps Welcome Dayton to Town For Fourth of July Weekend

The West Michigan Whitecaps are returning home to celebrate the Fourth of July with an action-packed four-game homestand against the Dayton Dragons.
The Dragons are making their first and only trip to West Michigan this season. They finished fourth in the Eastern Division during the first half and are off to a solid start in the second half. Dayton is led by left-handed pitcher Matt Fairel. He has been one of the best pitchers in the Midwest League this year. A Midwest League All-Star, Fairel is 5-3 with a 2.96 ERA and 78 strikeouts.
There will be something going on for everybody on Fourth of July weekend. On Saturday, July 4 the ZOOperstars! come to town to entertain the crowd. The ZOOperstars! were featured on America's Got Talent and have become one of the most popular entertainment acts in sports. Also, the first 1,500 fans will receive a Bissell t-shirt and a Farm Bureau Insurance fireworks show will follow the game. Gates open at 6:00 and first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, July 5 is a Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Family Day. The first 1,000 kids eat free. Fans are also welcome to play catch on the field and get autographs from the team before the game. Also, children can run the bases after the game, courtesy of Lake Michigan Credit Union. Gates open at 1:00 p.m. and first pitch is at 2:00 p.m.
On Monday, July 6, the first 1,500 fans will receive Gerald R. Ford Museum baseballs. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and gates will open at 6:00 p.m. Mondays are JQ99 All Faiths Night at the ballpark. Fans can get half off a box or reserve seat when they show their church or community bulletin.
The series finale with Dayton is set for Tuesday, July 7 at 12:00 p.m. The Human Slinky will be on hand to entertain the crowd between innings. The Human Slinky, who was also featured on America's Got Talent, wows fans as he bends and twists in his colorful slinky costume. Tuesday is also a Bob Evans Senior Day. Fans 50 or better get half off box or reserved seats.
