Whitecaps FC Residency Have Strong Weekend in First Home Matches

Whitecaps FC Residency teams had a positive weekend as they played their first home matches of the new Development Academy season. Clean sheets 3 of 4 games this weekend @WFCResidency equals happy GK coach. Very good defensively as a team & added some nice goals

On Saturday' the 'Caps fell 2-1 to division rivals San Diego Surf. Connor Glennon scored the lone goal for the Residency boys.

Sunday saw the 'Caps respond with their second victory of the season, a 1-0 win over Nomads SC. In a match that was dominated by the home side, Matthew Baldisimo headed in a corner kick from Georges Mukumbilwa.

"We had a poor first half against San Diego on Saturday, then three good halves the rest of the weekend," noted technical director Craig Dalrymple. "It was pleasing to see the response, so we're heading in the right direction."

U-16

It was a strong weekend for the U-16s, starting with a 5-0 win on Saturday over San Diego Surf. Jefferson Alade scored two goals after returning from international duty with Canada's U-17 national team. Jose Hernandez, Anthony Caceres, and Jacob Aulin rounded out the scoring.

The U-16 'Caps continued their attacking prowess on Sunday with a 6-0 victory against Nomads SC. Michael Baldisimo and Alessandro Hojabrpour each scored two goals, while Jose Hernandez and Keisean Brooks added the others.

"Overall a pleasing weekend," U-16 head coach Adam Day told whitecapsfc.com. "The boys have worked hard the last three weeks since our season opening road trip, and I thought we were very dominant both matches. We have shown growth and maturity, and the message to the players is to continue that on."
