Whitecaps FC Decline Option on Defender Greg Klazura

November 25, 2013 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Vancouver Whitecaps FC News Release

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today that the club will not exercise the option on defender Greg Klazura, making him eligible for today's MLS Waiver Draft.

"During his two seasons with Vancouver, Greg was a hard worker on the field and a great ambassador off the field," said Whitecaps FC president Bob Lenarduzzi. "We wish Greg the best of luck in the future."

Klazura, 24, joined Whitecaps FC as a second round selection in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft on January 17, 2012. In two seasons with Vancouver, the fullback made two MLS regular season appearances, as well as four Amway Canadian Championship appearances. The native of Rockford, Illinois, also played in 24 MLS Reserve League matches.

The MLS Waiver Draft will take place today at 12:30 p.m. PT via conference call. Vancouver will have the seventh selection - based on reverse order of finish, taking into account playoff performance. As with all players that clear waivers, any players not selected in the Waiver Draft will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Whitecaps FC 2014 season tickets are now on sale and start at just $349, subject to applicable fees. The club is also offering a flexible range of additional products, including half-season packs, 5-packs, student season tickets, and a youth soccer half-season ticket.
