Wheeling Nailers Sign Winger Jason Payne

WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, the 'AA' affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, have signed left winger Jason Payne it was announced Saturday by team head Coach Greg Puhalski. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.
Payne, 33, broke into professional hockey in 1996-97 when he played four games with the Carolina Monarchs of the American Hockey League (AHL). He played in eight games with the ECHL's Reading Royals earlier this season, recording one assist in eight games. Payne was in action Saturday night during the Nailers' 5-4 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Cyclones.
The next Nailers home game is on Saturday, Jan. 31 against the Mississippi Seawolves. Faceoff for the Jan. 31 game has been changed from 7:35 to 8:05 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling 304-234-GOAL or log on to wheelingnailers.com.
