Wheat Kings' Season Ticket Totals Eclipse 2,000

Brandon, MB. - With the curtain about to go up on what should be an exciting 2018-19 Western Hockey League season, the Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that season ticket sales have eclipsed the 2,000 mark.

During a Media Reception held at the Canad Inns Brandon on Thursday afternoon, the WHL club announced that a total of 2,036 have been sold for the upcoming season.

The Wheat Kings, who will kick off Training Camp in less than two weeks and will bring the curtain up on their 2018-19 regular season on Friday, September 21st vs. Moose Jaw, sold close to 2,600 season tickets last year and finished the year with an average of well over 3,800 fans per home game.

Wheat Kings' season tickets remain among the most affordable in the league. As well, season tickets are exempt from all box office agency fees of $3 per ticket, providing Wheat Kings' season ticket holders with a 40% saving off regular admission price. Those that do purchase will also have a chance to win some great prizes as the hockey club has announced the return of its popular "20 Prizes in 20 Days" contest, scheduled to begin Saturday, September 1st.

Adults $475 plus GST

Seniors $425 plus GST

Youth (13-17) $325 plus GST

Children $200 plus GST

34-game Flex Packs $549 plus GST

Wheat Kings are also pleased to introduce exciting family affordable options this season in an effort to make season tickets more convenient and affordable for fans. For the first time ever, season ticket holders will have the option to pay for their tickets on a monthly basis. As well, the Wheat Kings will be offering a 50% discount on children's season tickets ($99 plus GST) for fans that purchase two or more adult season tickets.

For those that have already ordered their 2017-18 packages, the club has announced that Season Ticket holders will have the opportunity to pick them up beginning Friday, September 7th at 10am at the Keystone Centre's Southside Parking Lot. Western Manitoba hockey fans can pick up between 10am and 7pm, with more details on what will be a fun filled day to come in the next two weeks.

Those ordering their tickets prior to the June Early Bird Deadline will also be given the opportunity to pick up their limited edition bobblehead, featuring the likeness of former Wheat King great Ron Hextall.

September 7th also marks the first of two pre-season home games for the Wheat Kings, who will be hosting the visiting Regina Pats at 7:30pm.

The team's home schedule will include a number of popular promotions, including two Theme Jersey Nights, the return of "2 for Tuesdays", the annual Teddy Bear Toss Night, in support of the local Christmas Cheer Registry, Family Skate Night as well as a number of premium giveaways - from fridge magnet schedules to posters and player cards.

Other promotions scheduled this winter include Koch Minor Hockey Night, Salute to School Patrols, Enns Brothers 4-H Appreciation Night, Tim Hortons and Fan Appreciation / Awards Night.

"2 for Tuesdays" will be featured at four home games, beginning Tuesday, October 16th vs. Spokane and will feature 2 for 1 tickets and special Keystone Centre concession specials.

Meanwhile the Wheat Kings are excited to announce three additional ticket promotions for 2018-19.

When the Wheat Kings score five goals on home ice this season, fans will have the opportunity to order online pizza from DOMINOS at 50% off the following day. Should Brandon score six times at Westoba Place, fans can display their ticket at any HERITAGE CO-OP gas bar location the following day and receive 6 cents off per litre (maximum 100 litre fill). A 7-goal outburst meanwhile will mean fans will have a week to save $7 off any dinner buffet at Aaltos in the CANAD INNS BRANDON

The Wheat Kings will bring the curtain up on their 2018-19 WHL season on Friday, September 21st against the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors. The Brandon Sun Home Opener is presented by TELUS.

Tickets to the opener will go on sale in early September with single game tickets for all other 33 regular season games, scheduled to be available on Tuesday, September 25th at the Keystone Centre box office, online at keystonecentre.com or by calling (204) 726-3555.
