What Animals, Saints 2018 Promotions Schedule Highlighted by Ballpark Wide Food Fight

ST. PAUL, MN - A ballpark wide pillow fight. More than 8,000 people doing squats. A tribute to the late, great Mary Tyler Moore with everyone in attendance throwing their tam hats in the air. Each idea was an interactive, and for the most part, tame promotion that got the entire crowd involved during a game over the last three seasons. It truly will be every man, woman, and child for themselves this year in what is sure to be the craziest, messiest, and most chaotic promotion ever produced by the St. Paul Saints. It's just the beginning of what is sure to be a memorable 2018 Saints promotional schedule.

Going to a Saints game over the years has given more than a few people the feeling of being inside the Delta Tau Chi Fraternity House. On Tuesday, August 14 the Saints will drop 8,000 plus people right into the middle of what it's like to eat with John "Bluto" Blutarsky as we celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Animal House presented by Twin Cities Orthopedics. Grab your togas and heed our advice "Drink Heavily" because after the end of the sixth inning it's going to get messy. After the final out of the sixth inning is recorded grab your hamburgers, brats, cole slaw, or whatever edible food you can find, and for 90 glorious seconds fire fastball after fastball at the nearest body in the stands. Bring out the one person you've always wished you could dump a pile of nacho cheese on: a relative, friend, significant other, or someone you want to get a little revenge at like your boss or an ex. This has mess written all over it. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the ballpark that will be donated to a local food shelf.

The Animal House style food fight may leave fans picking pieces of hot dog out of their hair for the foreseeable future, but there are many dates that offer good, clean fun at CHS Field this season.

Tuesday, May 22 7:05 p.m. - Unveiling of Monument Pork with Triple Ball Pig Bobble Giveaway (First 1,500 fans)

While the New York Yankees have Monument Park, the Saints will now have Monument Pork. The live swine delivering baseballs to the home plate umpire has been a staple of the Saints since their inaugural season in 1993. The Monument will be built adjacent to The Gallery, which is located behind home plate on the concourse. Each pig will receive their own plaque with its name, a description of their time with the Saints, and the year in which they were the mascot. Above the plaque will be a circle, in Saints colors, with the bronzed likeness of the swine. The three pigs immortalized this year are The Saint (1993), Notorious P.I.G. a.k.a. Piggy Smalls (2003) and Little Red Porkette (2016). The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a one-of-a-kind bobblehead featuring all three pigs. The three heads will appear on individual pillars, like those of Greek God statues, with their names and the year they served as the Saints mascot on the bottom of their pillar.

Friday, May 25 7:05 p.m. - Stranger Things Night with Magnet Schedule Giveaway (First 5,000 fans)

Dustin Henderson wore an old Science Museum sweatshirt in one of the episodes which inherently makes him "one of us." Grab your Will or Lucas and we'll take you into the Upside Down on Stranger Things Night. If you can use your Eleven ESP to let us know whether we're going to make the playoffs this season that would help. If you want one of our special Saints-style shirts, similar to the one Dustin wore in the show, you'll want to purchase the special ticket package which will be available beginning the week of March 19 (check the Saints Facebook, facebook.com/stpaulsaints and Twitter, stpaulsaints, pages for the announcement). The shirt is a Mudonna skeleton that says Mudonnasaurus underneath the skeleton and "Thunder Hog" below that. Also, the first 5,000 fans will receive a Saints magnet schedule.

Saturday, May 26 7:05 p.m. - Dog Day presented by Chuck & Don's

Ain't Nothin But A Hound Dog on this day as the Saints encourage everyone to bring out their four-legged canine friends on Dog Day presented by Chuck & Don's. Whether you bring the dog to the game, or your dog brings you, there will be plenty of fun for both. Fire hydrants will adorn the concourse, but only for the dogs, and various contests will go on during the night including which owner looks most like their dog and which owner can sit, stay and roll-over on command. Make sure man's best friend is on a leash, and hold on tight, because when a foul ball is hit there will be a mad dash to get the ball.

Friday, June 8 7:05 p.m. - Star Wars Night presented by Pizza Ranch

It's time to jump into the Millennium Falcon and reach warp speed as we use the force during Star Wars Night presented by Pizza Ranch. Speak like Yoda will you or imitate Chewbacca's wookie call, it's time to find out if you're a Jedi or a part of the dark side. For those who want to show off their lightsaber skills purchasing the special ticket package you must. Go to saintsgroups.com and type in the password: star wars for a ticket to the game, a lightsaber and a pre-game lightsaber training session.

Sunday, June 10 5:05 p.m. - Salute to Women's Baseball presented by Room & Board with a Toni Stone Bobblehead Giveaway (First 1,500 fans)

From Toni Stone, to Ila Borders, to Mo'ne Davis, to the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, female talent at all levels of baseball has been both inspirational and relevant in the history of the game. The Saints will honor these women and more on our Salute to Women in Baseball presented by Room & Board. Stone was raised in Saint Paul's Rondo neighborhood and began her professional career in 1949 with the San Francisco Sea Lions. From there she played for the Black Pelicans of New Orleans, the New Orleans Creoles and finally the Indianapolis Clowns, becoming the first woman to play in the Negro Leagues. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a special Toni Stone bobblehead.

Wednesday, June 13 1:05 p.m. - Celebrating 50 Years of Mr. Rogers

Put on your sneakers, zip up your cardigan, and come into our neighborhood as we celebrate 50 years of Mr. Rogers. Go on a field trip with us to the local bakery or music store, watch a short film, and let's play make believe. Come meet our friends Daniel Striped Tiger, Lady Elaine Fairchilde, and King Friday XIII as we teach you a special lesson. Saints players will ride into the ballpark on a trolley as you enjoy this afternoon matinee.

Thursday, June 21 7:05 p.m. - National Yoga Day

Apparently, regular, run-of-the-mill yoga isn't good enough anymore. There is Hatha Yoga, Goat Yoga, Bikram Yoga, Musical Yoga, Vinyoga, Goat Yoga, Karma Yoga, Pig Yoga, Troll Yoga, and we're pretty sure there is Beer Yoga. And if Beer Yoga isn't a thing, then today it is as we celebrate National Yoga Day. Bring out your yoga mat, a towel, wear comfortable clothes and make sure the water bottle is filled. We will work on your pranayama and the bandha of your muscles. Get ready for our Fun is Good mantra as you get into the adho mukha svanasana pose. Namaste.

Monday, June 25 7:05 p.m. - Winter Carnival in June presented by Spire Credit Union with Ice Palace Snow Globe Giveaway (First 1,000 fans)

Spire and Ice and everything Nice as we celebrate the iconic winter festival in Saint Paul with our Winter Carnival in June presented by Spire Credit Union. Sure, it feels like winter just ended yesterday, but we're hardy Minnesotans and we embrace winter 365 days a year. Search for our medallion around CHS Field and bow down to our royal court because it's time to ride the giant snow slide. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive an Ice Palace Snow Globe thanks to our friends at Spire Credit Union.

Wednesday, June 27 7:05 p.m. - Toilet Paper Drive presented by Innovative Office Solutions

Should you wipe front to back or back to front? Should the toilet paper roll have the paper start on top or underneath? These questions and more will be answered during our Toilet Paper Drive presented by Innovative Office Solutions. The Chinese invented toilet paper in the sixth century AD, but it took eight centuries before it became widely popular. Don't worry, all our bathrooms are fully stocked. While the average person uses 57 sheets per day, some have other uses for the two-, three- or even four-ply stuff. Perhaps the most surprising use: the toilet paper wedding dress. For this night we're asking fans to bring in packages of toilet paper that we will donate to Second Harvest Heartland.

Monday, July 9 7:05 p.m. - Fighting Saints Night

We still get confused for the Minor League Hockey team from the 1970s, so we thought for one night we would embrace it, with Fighting Saints Night. The Fighting Saints were part of the 12 original teams of the WHA from 1972-76. After not finishing the 1976 season, the second installment of the Saints came from Cleveland, Ohio for the 1976-77 season. Among the most notable players were Wayne Connelly, the teams leading scorer, Mike Antonovich, the team's career games leader, Hockey Hall of Famer Dave Keon, Gord Gallant, and Mike Holmgren. One other player who made his professional debut with the Saints, playing in 30 games in the 1975-76 season, is current Minnesota Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau. He will be in attendance, along with other former Fighting Saints players, and partake in a pre-game ceremony. The Saints will wear special Fighting Saints uniforms that will be auctioned off during the game.

Wednesday, August 29 7:05 p.m. - World's Largest Sologamy Ceremony

Marriage can be complicated. Not all of us find the person that we want to spend the rest of our lives with, so the Saints are giving you the opportunity to spend the rest of your life with the person you have no choice, but to be around with forever...you. It's the World's Largest Sologamy ceremony. This is a real thing, we promise we didn't just make this up to convince people to marry themselves. Supporters of the practice argue that it affirms one's own value and leads to a happier life. Prior to the game all those looking to say, "I Do" to themselves can come onto the field for the World's Largest Sologamy Ceremony. It also may be the only way our broadcaster, Sean Aronson, gets married.

Saturday, September 1 7:05 p.m. - Jack Morris Night presented by Minnesota Corn Growers with a Jack Morris Print Giveaway (First 1,500 fans)

Trivia question: Jack Morris delivered his final pitch wearing what team's uniform? Answer: The St. Paul Saints. Morris, who was voted into the Hall of Fame and will be inducted in 2018, comes back to the team he helped lead to a playoff berth in 1996 as the Saints honor him on Jack Morris Night presented by the Minnesota Corn Growers. During his Hall of Fame career Morris won 254 games with 175 complete games, 28 shutouts, and a 3.90 ERA. His most famous game, of course, was the unbelievable 10 shutout innings in Game 7 of the 1991 World Series for the Twins, a game he and the Twins would win 1-0. During his 10 starts with the Saints, Morris went 5-1 with a 3.24 ERA, three complete games and a shutout. The first 1,500 fans will receive a Jack Morris print. Morris will be on hand to sign autographs prior to the game. He will also join Paul Molitor and Dave Winfield with a plaque on the Hall of Fame Wall, at CHS Field, honoring great Saint Paul baseball players. Morris, who was born in Saint Paul, was a standout at Highland Park High School.

The Saints will bring back other popular promotions like Larry Doby Night (June 21), presented by MidWestOne Bank, Christmas in July (July 25), and the always exciting Irish Night (August 16).

There are three weekday afternoon games on June 13, July 11, and August 15, all at 1:05 p.m.

The daily promotions offer something for everyone in the family. The week will start with Metropolitan State Minnesota Monday, highlighting all that we love, and poke fun at, about our great state. We'll take you back to different times in your life with Take Me Back Tuesdays presented by Valleyfair. Walser Wednesday is back for the craziest tailgate party of the year with free hot dogs. Quench your thirst with a Saints staple, Thirsty Thursday, with $1 select beers all night long, featuring North Lake Brewing. Friday Night Fireworks, presented by Xcel Energy, returns by popular demand complete with musical theme. Put on your favorite Hawaiian shirt and grass skirt with Treasure Island Saturday. The family-friendly atmosphere wraps up with Family Sunday, featuring kids run the bases and player autographs on the field.

Along with the nine Xcel Energy Friday Night Fireworks games there are three additional Fireworks Supershows. On Sunday, May 27, following the 5:05 p.m. game, there will be a Monster Food Truck Rally with a Post-Game SPIREworks Super Show. The Independence Day Celebration will take place on Monday, July 2, with a 6:05 p.m. start time, followed by a Monster Food Truck Rally and Post-Game Fireworks Super Show. The final Monster Food Truck Rally and Fireworks Supershow is on Sunday, September 2 at 5:05 p.m. with Fan Appreciation Night. Each of the Friday Night shows will once again be accompanied by a musical theme: May 25 (80s), June 8 (John Williams), June 22 (Grease), July 6 (ABBA), July 27 (Club Music), August 3 (Drinking Songs), August 10 (TBA), August 17 (Led Zeppelin), and August 31 (Madonna).

Saints tickets continue to be a tremendous value. Tickets begin at $5 for the Treasure Island berm seating (available only on day of game in person at the box office), $6 for SPLASH Zone bleacher seats, $14 for outfield reserved, $16 for the drink rail and $18 for infield reserved and home plate reserved. Friday Home Games with Post-Game Fireworks are an additional $2 per ticket. Post-Game Fireworks Supershows (May 27, July 2 and September 2) are an additional $3 per ticket. Tickets purchased on the day of the game are an additional $2 per ticket. Children under the age of 12 and seniors 65 and older receive $1 off the admission price. Children under 2 that don't require a seat are free.

Beginning March 17, Saints Box Office hours on non-game days are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. On game days, the Box Office will open at 9 a.m., Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. Saturday and 12:00 p.m. on Sunday and will remain open until 15 minutes following each game. Tickets are always available at saintsbaseball.com.

The Saints open the 2018 season on the road against the Gary SouthShore Railcats on Friday, May 18. The home opener is on Monday, May 21 with a 3:05p.m.
