Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
Rome, GA - The West Virginia Power shutout the Rome Braves 2-0 on Sunday at State Mutual Stadium. Three Power pitchers limited the Braves to four hits as West Virginia's staff combined for its ninth shutout of the season.
West Virginia scored the game's only runs in the third against Rome's Ricardo Sanchez. With one out and runners on first and second, Sanchez's errant pickoff throw moved both Casey Hughston and Logan Ratledge into scoring position. Mitchell Tolman hit a ground ball to first baseman Carlos Castro, scoring Hughston from third. Castro attempted to throw home to retire Hughston at the plate, but his throw sailed wide of catcher Wigberto Nevarez, allowing Ratledge to score as well for a 2-0 Power lead.

Julio Vivas pitched two shutout innings for his fourth hold and Seth McGarry faced three batters in the ninth for his sixth save. Sanchez (5-8) took the loss after allowing the only two runs of the game.
