Lethbridge Hurricanes News Release

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club, for the second time in a week, have traded 18-year-old forward Johnny Wesley; this time to the Vancouver Giants in exchange for an eighth round draft pick in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.

The Hurricanes attempted to trade Wesley to the Kootenay Ice late last week, but the trade was voided as the player decided against reporting to Cranbrook.

Wesley was originally acquired by the Hurricanes from the Giants at the 2014 WHL trade deadline in a deal that saw overage forward Zane Jones go to Vancouver. In 31 games with the Hurricanes last season, the product of White Rock, BC, scored 10 points (5g-5a) along with 19 penalty minutes.

Wesley was re-assigned by the Hurricanes to the BCHL's Surrey Eagles after training camp. In 19 games with the Eagles this season, Wesley has recorded 21 points (11g-10a) along with 31 penalty minutes.
