WEBE 108 Presents 'Play It Forward' at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard

May 25, 2016 - Atlantic League (AtL)
Bridgeport Bluefish News Release

(Bridgeport, Conn.) - The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced that WEBE 108 and Splash Car Wash will be at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Saturday, May 28, to raise awareness and funds to help provide sports equipment to children who cannot otherwise afford them. During this 'Play It Forward' day, fans are asked to bring lightly used sports equipment to donate to these children and their families. In exchange for your donation, you will receive a complimentary ticket to the game that day or a future Bluefish game.

"We are so excited about sponsoring this great cause and with working with fantastic partners like the Bridgeport Bluefish," says Mark Curtis of Splash Car Wash. "Like Splash, the Bluefish demonstrate their consistent support for the community and Play It Forward is just another example how we can help give back to the neighborhoods we serve. This is a real opportunity to help some kids play sports they might not ever been able to because of lack of equipment or playing fields. Play It Forward hopes to make that possible."

The vision of Play It Forward is to raise awareness, raise funds, and lift spirits in order to support children in our community that want to stop dreaming on the sidelines and be able to get into the game. No kid should be left on the sidelines, but unfortunately so many families right here in our back yard can't afford to enroll their kids in organized sports or afford the equipment to let them play with other children. Whether you donate a baseball glove, cleats, lacrosse stick, skates or running shoes, you can help these kids that just want to play, but simply can't afford to.

Participating in sports helps kids develop in so many ways. The goal of Play It Forward is to help kids increase their self-esteem, develop a sense of team and help grow both physical and social skills. By helping kids get in to the game, we are equipping them with determination, and giving them confidence that will extend beyond practices and games. Our goal is to raise awareness and raise funds that will stay here in our community helping kids right in our backyards participate in sports, dance or other organized physical activity. Families that need a financial hand with registration, equipment and/or transportation cost.

Game time on Saturday, May 28 is 6:12 pm with The Ballpark at Harbor Yard gates opening at 5:12 pm. It is also Pirates and Princesses Day, which means all of your favorite characters will be roaming the ballpark and interacting with fans. Tickets can be purchased, calling 203-210-BLUE, or by visiting the Bridgeport Bluefish Box Office at the ballpark.
