Salt Lake Bees News Release
Bo Way matched a career-high with three runs batted in as the Salt Lake Bees won the series opener against the Iowa Cubs, 6-1, Thursday night at Smith's Ballpark.Parker Bridwell (1-0) earned the victory in his Bees debut and first career Triple-A start, allowing two hits over five shutout innings and striking out seven. The Bees quickly got Bridwell some run support in the bottom of the first when Carlos Perez launched a two-run homer down the left field line. Way's squeeze bunt in the second extended Salt Lake's lead to 3-0, and his two-run single in the fourth gave the Bees a 6-0 cushion. Manny Banuelos relieved Bridwell and worked two innings, striking out two. Cody Ege pitched the eighth and Damien Magnifico made his Bees debut in the ninth before Justin Miller collected his third save. Former Utah Ute C.J. Cron continued his rehab assignment, collecting two doubles in four trips to the plate. Salt Lake and Iowa continue their series Friday at Smith's Ballpark as the Bees celebrate Teacher Appreciation Night. For tickets and additional information, visit slbees.com.
