Wave Loses Two Players to Chicago in MISL Expansion Draft

(Milwaukee, WI) The Milwaukee Wave, a member of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) had two players selected by the Chicago Storm in today's MISL Expansion Draft. Goalkeeper Dan Green and forward / midfielder Matt Stewart were chosen from the Wave's unprotected roster. In addition, midfielder Ryan Futagaki, a midfielder whose MISL rights were retained by Milwaukee, was also selected by the Storm.
Each of the nine established MISL teams (Baltimore, Cleveland, Dallas, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Monterrey (Mexico), Philadelphia, St. Louis, and San Diego) were initially allowed to protect 11 players. Each club was also allowed to pull back a player from the unprotected list after having one selected. No team was subject to losing more than three players.
The 32 year-old Green, a six-year indoor veteran, is coming off of his first season as primary goalkeeper for the Wave. The former Hartland (WI) Arrowhead H.S. and Northern Illinois University star led the MISL in both winning percentage (18-3, .857) and GAA (4.02) during the 2003-04 campaign.
The 28-year old Stewart, a five-year indoor veteran, is coming off his first year as a member of the Wave. The El Paso, TX native appeared in 34 regular season games for Milwaukee, recording 6 goals and 11 assists for 17 points.
