Washington Kastles News Release

Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza celebrate their 2015 Wimbledon Title. They'll look to do the same at the 2015 US Open Today.

Martina Hingis will be going for her second title of the 2015 US Open and an incredible fifth Grand Slam title of the year when she and Sania Mirza take on Casey Dellacqua and Yaroslava Shvedova for the US Open Women's Doubles Championship today at 12pm. Be sure to catch every minute of the action online at ESPN3.

Although Hingis and Mirza have been rolling through the competition, not dropping a set all tournament long, the pair may have to shake off some rust, as they have not played together since their semifinal match against Sara Errani and recently crowned Women's Singles Champion Flavia Pennetta, which was four days ago.

And their opponents Dellacqua and Shvedova, will be battled tested having played three sets in four of their five victories on the way to the Finals and after pulling out a very tight semifinal match against Anna-Lena Groenfeld of the Springfield Lasers and Coco Vandeweghe of the Philadelphia Freedoms 6-7(3-7), 7-5, 7-5.

It should be a very closely contested match, but the edge has to go to the World No. 1 doubles team of Hingis and Mirza. Considering the fact that Hingis has already tasted championship victory with Mirza at Wimbledon, and now here at the US Open with Paes in mixed doubles, it's fair to assume that they don't intend on letting up on Sunday.

Here's a look back at how Hingis and Mirza arrived at the final.

In round one, they skated by the American duo of Kaitlyn Christina and Sabrina Santamaria with ease. Both Hingis and Mirza held serve exceptionally well, and broke the American's on more than fifty percent of their chances, which lead to a 6-1, 6-2 victory.

Next, Hingis and Mirza faced a fellow swiss player in Timea Bacsinszky along with her partner Chia-Jung Chuang, in a match that turned out to be less of a test for them than their opening round opponents. They disposed of Bacsinszky and Chuang 6-1, 6-1. Everything on this match was clicking for them putting in 74 percent of their first serves and winning 71 percent of break points, which in most cases adds up to a winning combination.

In their third round encounter, they faced the 13rd seeded team of Michaella Krajicek and Barbora Strycova. It didn't phase Hingis and Mirza one bit, as the two rolled in that match, 6-3, 6-0. They upped their pressure and consistency thanks to their precise serving, registering 78 percent of first serves made and 76 percent of first serve points won.

The quarterfinals were next against the 9th seeded team of Chan Yung-Jan and Chan Hao-Ching, a team they hadn't fared well against. The Chan sisters had taken out Hingis and Mirza in the semifinals at the Western and Southern Open just a couple weeks prior, but the Swiss-India pair got their revenge with a 7-6(7-5), 6-1 victory. In addition to winning all four break points, Hingis and Mirza caused the Chan sisters to commit a remarkable 25 unforced errors.

The semifinals promised to be another tough match for Hingis and Mirza, facing the No. 11 seeds Sara Errani, who was part of the world's #1 team for the last three years, and Flavia Pennetta, the eventual 2015 US Open Women's Singles Champion. There was a lot of familiarity among the players as Hingis and Pennetta reached the US Open Doubles Final as a team last year after partnering together for much of 2014 and into 2015 before switching to Mirza. In surprisingly easy fashion, Hingis and Mirza tossed them aside with a 6-4, 6-1 win.

Hingis and Mirza have been on quite a ride since first pairing up back in March for the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, a tournament they actually won.

And today they'll be looking to win their second straight Grand Slam and the year's final major together.

Watch all the action on ESPN3 beginning at 12pm.
