Waston Plays 45 Minutes as MLS All-Stars Fall 2-1

SAN JOSE, CA - The third time wasn't quite the charm for the MLS All-Stars.After defeating Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich in the last two editions of the summer showcase, the MLS All-Stars fell 2-1 to Arsenal FC on Thursday evening in San Jose.

Chuba Akpom clinched the victory for the English Premier League club with an 87th-minute winner after Joel Campbell and Didier Drogba traded goals at the beginning and end of the first half. Campbell opened the scoring for Arsenal with an 11th-minute PK after Drogba's Montreal Impact teammate Laurent Ciman was whistled for a foul in the box.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC centre back Kendall Waston, a Costa Rican international teammate of Campbell's, played the second half for the MLS All-Stars in the middle of defence. Earlier in the day, Whitecaps FC goalkeeper David Ousted, who played in last year's MLS All-Star Game, was one of four players named to the MLS All-Star team as part of the inactive roster.

Whitecaps FC return to action on Sunday against league-leading FC Dallas (3 p.m. PT on TSN2 and TSN 1040 radio).
