Washington Defeats Shaumburg 4-0 in 11 Innings

Schaumburg, IL - Another pitchers' duel was the theme to the final game of the Washington/Schaumburg series Thursday night at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium. Both starting pitchers tossed shut out innings.

Wild Things' starter Tim Giel went seven innings allowing seven hits, striking out three and walking two. The Boomers' starter Taylor Thurber didn't allow a hit until the seventh inning when Scott Kalamar singled to get on base.

All four Washington pitchers tossed scoreless innings. Jonathan Kountis earned the win for Washington.

In the 11th inning with the International Tie Breaker Rule, Washington took the lead when Matt Peters scored an unearned run; Matt Ford had an RBI double and Jimmy Yezzo drove in two to give Washington a four run advantage.

The Wild Things return to CONSOL Energy Park Friday to host the final series of 2015 when they welcome the Windy City Thunderbolts. The game, scheduled for 7:05 p.m. can be heard on www.msasports.net; air time is 6:55 p.m. Tickets for the final Fireworks Friday of the season are available at the CONSOL Energy Park Box Office.
