Vancouver Giants News Release

Vancouver, B.C. - Ty Ronning scored his first goal of the season while Brendan Semchuk rippled the mesh as well, but the Vancouver Giants lost 3-2 to the Victoria Royals on Wednesday evening at the Langley Events Centre. Jack Walker tallied all three Victoria goals.

Walker opened the scoring early in the first period, beating Vancouver goalie Ryan Kubic on a two-on-one just 14 seconds into the contest.

Ronning tied it up for Vancouver less than four minutes into the middle frame, wiring a wrist shot past Griffen Outhouse in the Royals' net from the top of the left circle. Semchuk gave the Giants the lead later in the period, scoring off an attacking zone face-off, but Walker evened the score on a Victoria power play just after the midway mark of the stanza.

Walker scored the eventual game winning goal from the right face-off dot just 2:04 into the third period. The Giants pulled the goaltender in the late stages and pushed for the tying goal. Radovan Bondra hit the goal post in the final minute, but the Giants were unable to score.

Vancouver went 0-for-3 on the power play while Kubic stopped 25 of 28 Victoria shots in the loss.

The Giants now head out on the road for six consecutive games. They'll visit the Prince George Cougars on Friday night at the CN Centre. Puck drop is set for 7:00pm.

Vancouver's next home game is on Wednesday, October 19th, when the G-Men welcome the Saskatoon Blades to the LEC. For tickets, click here or call 604.4.GIANTS (604.444.2687).
