Walk-Off Single Wins It For Blasters

Joplin, MO - The Sioux City Explorers fall to the Blasters with a 2-1 score in Joplin MO.

Both the Explorers and Blasters recorded their first run in the fourth inning. X's centerfielder Tim Colwell knocked in a run with an RBI single for the first run of the game. In the bottom half, Joplin scored a run on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch, advancing the runner at third base.

Joplin scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning. With the bases-loaded, Brandon Tierney plated the winning run with a walk-off RBI single to get the 2-1 victory.

Blasters starter Alex De La Cruz (1-5) had a solid outing on the mound but finished with a no decision, allowing only one run to score in six innings pitched. Joplin's right-hander Carlos Fuentes (2-3) received the victory pitching three scoreless innings.

Explorers starter Ryan Zimmerman (3-8) had a no decision on the night, going 5.2 innings with only one run allowed. X's right-hander PJ Francescon (0-5) was charged with the loss, giving up the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning.
