Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

A walk-off error on a dropped fly ball with two outs in the bottom of the 9th lifted the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (23-18) to a 4-3 win over the Toledo Mud Hens (17-23) on Friday night at Coca-Cola Park.

In the bottom of the ninth, Carlos Alonso reached on an infield single with two away and scored from first when Taylor Featherston hit a high fly ball into shallow right field which was dropped by Toledo RF Wynton Bernard and gave the Pigs the 4-3 victory.

LHP Drake Britton (0.2 IP, H, 1 R, 0 ER) was tagged with the loss for Toledo and drops to 0-1 on the year.

RHP Edubray Ramos (1.0 IP, K) tossed a scoreless inning of relief for manager Dave Brundage's squad and improves to 1-0 on the season. The win is the first of his Triple-A career.

Chad Huffman's solo shot off of Pigs starter Jake Thompson gave the Mud Hens a 1-0 lead in the top of the second.

In the home half of the frame, Andrew Knapp's solo shot off of Toledo starter Matt Boyd tied things at one apiece for the IronPigs. The home run was Knapp's sixth of the season.

Darnell Sweeney led off with a double for the Pigs in the fifth, but Boyd was able to get a pair of strikeouts and a lineout to end the threat.

The Pigs took the lead at 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth as Nick Williams led off with a single, stole second and later scored on Cam Perkins' (3-4, RBI) two-out RBI single.

Boyd (n/d) gave up the two runs on six hits to go along with a walk and nine strikeouts in six innings of work.

Casey McGehee's solo shot off of Thompson in the top of the seventh tied things at two apiece for Toledo. Later in the frame, the Mud Hens had a runner at second with one out, but Thompson got back-to-back groundouts from Jordany Valdespin and Wynton Bernard to end the threat.

Featherston's solo blast off of RHP Dustin Molleken (1.0 IP, H, R, ER, BB, K) in the bottom of the seventh gave Lehigh Valley a 3-2 lead for the time being. The home run was Featherston's fifth of the season and extended his hitting streak to nine games.

In the top of the eighth, Tyler Collins delivered a solo shot off of Thompson to tie things once again at three apiece.

Thompson (n/d) allowed the three runs on five hits while walking one and fanning eight in eight innings of work. The 8.0 IP represents his longest outing since he tossed eight on May 31, 2015 with Frisco (AA).

The series continues on Saturday at 6:35 p.m. as RHP Mark Appel (3-2, 3.58) will be on the bump for Lehigh Valley against Toledo LHP Daniel Norris (0-4, 8.06).
