Vipers Top Legends with Last-Second Shot

HIDALGO, Texas -- Andrew Goudelock scored a last-second shot to lead the Rio Grande Valley Vipers past the Texas Legends 120-118 tonight at State Farm Arena.

Goudelock led the Vipers with 28 points, 10 rebounds. Vernon Macklin added 20 points. Terrel Harris tallied 18 points. Chris Johnson scored 14 points, and newcomer Maalik Wayns recorded 13 points.

Sean Singletary led the Legends with 38 points, followed by Darius Rice with 31 points. Solomon Bozeman recorded 19 points, and Fred House chipped in 13 points.

Texas took control of the first quarter and led the Vipers by 27-8 at the 4:21 mark. Goudelock responded for the Vipers to help the team close the gap to a 34-24 deficit by the end of the first quarter.

The Vipers fought back throughout the second quarter. RGV outscored the Legends 30-22 points. Goudelock recorded 23 of his 28 points in the first half of the game to send the Vipers into the break down by 3 points, 56-53.

RGV built their largest lead of 13 points, 108-95 halfway through the fourth quarter. Texas came back on 11-point run to hold a 118-110 advantage with 2:49 left in the game. The Vipers would not back down. Chris Johnson connected two baskets and a shot from the line, followed by a shot from Macklin to tie the game at 118. With 0:1.8 on the clock, Goudelock scored the winning basket to give the Vipers the 120-118 lead.

The Vipers will face the Texas Legends again Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. at State Farm Arena. Vipers fans can listen to the game live on Fox Sports 1700 and can watch the game live on the NBA Development League Network on YouTube.
