Vipers Acquire Anderson from Bakersfield

MCALLEN, Texas -- The NBA Development League Rio Grande Valley Vipers today announced that they have acquired James Anderson from the Bakersfield Jam in exchange for Jerel McNeal.

Anderson, a 6'6" shooting guard, was picked 20^th overall in the 2010 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs. Anderson played in a total of 77 games for the Spurs over two seasons. During that time, he also saw minutes with the Spurs affiliate Austin Toros. At the end of last season, Anderson became a free agent and was recently acquired by the Jam.

Anderson played three seasons for the Oklahoma State Cowboys and was named Big 12 Player of the Year at the conclusion of his junior year. That season, he led the conference in scoring with 24 ppg and led the Cowboys to a 9-7 conference record.

The Junction City, Ark. native is a graduate of Junction City High School. Anderson led the Dragons to the Class 2A state championship, where he scored 43 points in the final game. He was also named Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year, and was named to the McDonald's and Parade All-American Teams.
