WINNIPEG - Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the signing of outfielder Fehlandt Lentini to a contract for the 2013 season.

Lentini, 35, returns to Winnipeg for his third stint with the Goldeyes. He suited up for the Fish from 2006-2008 and in 2011. The product of Santa Rosa, Calif. put together a solid campaign with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League last season. He finished fifth in the league with a .319 batting average and his 92 RBI were second in the loop. He also had 36 doubles, 19 home runs and 32 stolen bases in 136 games.

"It's very important for me that I can find an athletic, impact and highly skilled centre fielder and they are not exactly easy to find," Forney said. "Shaw Park and the three other parks that are in our division happen to be very difficult places to play for a centre fielder. If there's an opportunity to grab somebody that has the experience playing in these parks, you need to take it. He's the kind of guy that can impact the game offensively as well.

"Fehlandt has always loved playing in Winnipeg and always left the door open to returning if there was an opportunity. That opportunity presented itself this year with Chris Roberson going to Mexico."

Lentini's name is plastered all over the Goldeyes' record book. He's the team's all-time leader in doubles with 103 and second in triples with 28 and stolen bases with 139. He also holds four single-season team records from the 1996 campaign when he scored 93 runs, had 136 hits, belted out 13 triples and stole 57 bases.

Lentini is entering his 13th professional season. He played his first three seasons in the Houston Astros system and reached Double-A in 2003. Aside from parts of two seasons in the Mexican League, the rest of his career has been at the independent level.

The Goldeyes now have 13 players signed for the 2013 season, including eight pitchers and five position players.

Season tickets and nine-game mini packs for the 2013 season are available by calling the Goldeyes office at 204-982-2273.
