Great Lakes Loons News Release

LANSING, MI - Jonathan Martinez and Miguel Sulbaran combined to limit the Lansing Lugnuts to four hits and no runs and helped snap the Great Lakes Loons' franchise-worst nine-game losing skid Sunday afternoon in a 10-0 win.

The Loons are now 6-1 in Sunday games and collect their first win since May 2 at Dow Diamond against Beloit.

The two teenagers from Venezuela kept the Lugnuts off the board while the Loons capitalized on four errors by the home team leading to eight unearned runs. Martinez (1-2), 18, started and allowed three hits and two walks in five innings for his first win of the season. Nineteen-year old lefty Sulbaran followed with four scoreless, allowing one hit and one walk for his first save.

The Loons got a three-hit performance from Kevin Taylor, three RBIs from Tyler Ogle, and Pat Stover connected for his second home run of the season.

Lansing right fielder Carlos Ramirez misplayed two fly balls leading to unearned runs in the second and fourth innings. Shortstop Emilio Guerrero's errant throw in the third resulted in five unearned runs. Gustavo Pierre's miscue in the eighth gifted the Loons another run. Starter Ben White lasted 4 1/3 and surrendered nine runs (just two earned). Relievers Kramer Champlin (3 2/3 IP) and Tucker Donahue (1) did not allow an earned run.

The Loons play the final game of their six-game roadtrip against the Lugnuts Monday evening at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Ralston Cash (2-1, 3.64) will start for the Loons against Ben White (0-2, 5.30). The game will be broadcast live on ESPN 100.9-FM and ESPN1009.com.

The Loons are a seventh-year Single-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and members of the Midwest League. For more information about the Loons, visit Loons.com or call 989-837-BALL.
