Vancouver Falls Victim to Sloppy Errors

August 30, 2017 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Vancouver Canadians News Release

Vancouver, B.C. - A five-run outburst in the top of the 5th inning that included a grand slam off the bat of Boise CF J.B. Moss was enough to propel the road-weary Hawks past the Vancouver Canadians 10-4 on Tuesday night out at Scotiabank Field. The loss was Vancouver's third straight.

Moss' only hit of the game was the grand slam that put Vancouver on its collective heels as reliever RHP Dany Jimenez (1-3) found himself in a compromising position after Canadians 2B Samad Taylor committed a pair of costly errors that set the stage for Moss to hit his first slam of the season. When the dust had settled on the frame, only one of Jimenez's five runs were earned.

Vancouver got multi-hit nights from CF Reggie Pruitt (2-for-5); SS Logan Warmoth (2-for-5) and 3B Mattingly Romanin (2-for-3) as the Canadians had 11 hits in the game going 4-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

With the loss, Vancouver falls to 39-33 (.542) on the season and 18-16 (.529) over the course of the second half while Boise moves to within just one game of top spot in the South Division as few thought that the Hawks who played their 14th straight road game on Tuesday would catch the wave of success they are currently riding.

Vancouver will send RHP Nate Pearson (0-0, 0.00) to the mound opposite LHP Nick Kennedy (2-2, 3.38) in the series finale with the first pitch set for 1:05pm out at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium.

Vancouver Canadians Playoff Tickets are on-sale to both Wednesday, September 6th and Thursday, September 7th by calling 604.872.5232, online at www.canadiansbaseball.com or by visiting the Nat Bailey Stadium Box Office at 4601 Ontario Street, Vancouver, B.C.
